Rome is the perfect city to see on foot. It is best to visit the Roman Colisseum (or Flavian Amphitheatre) early in the morning or late in the evening before it closes to aviod the throngs of tourists. The Colosseum in Rome was completed by the Emporer Titus in 80 A.D. and was the largest amphitheatre ever built by the Romans. The Colosseum was the sight of extraodinary battles between gladiators and exotic animals from the far reaches of the empire. Once the arena was even flooded to reenact a naval battle against their ancient rival Carthage.
